iPhone Development Resources

iphone3gs

There are many resources out there to help you learn iPhone development. Some of them are good and others are a waste of time. I started with the book Beginning iPhone Development and was disappointed with the lack of structure and content. After that I browsed on over to the iPhone Dev Center and found some useful videos. Next I found a really usefull resource that Stanford University has provided. They have recorded and made available online the CS 193P - iPhone Application Programming class, homework assignments optional. These videos are available on iTunes and a great for people with limited development experience. If you want to fast track your learning the best resources are provided by Apple in a series of documents.

Back to Work

I recently graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Computer Systems Engineering. The classes I took taught me some good information but I found many subjects weren’t covered that are very important for my chosen career path. Now that I’m not in school I can spend time studying embedded systems and mobile application development. This stack of books should keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.

How many times have you wanted to use an oscilloscope and didn’t have one handy? I have had that problem too so I am developing the oScope pocket oscilloscope application to run on Google Android and iPhone. Soon you will be able to amaze all your friends by being able to tell them the fundamental frequency of any sound they hear.

oScope Pocket Oscilloscope

  • Microphone input sampled at 44.1kHz with 16-bit samples
  • Selectable sample counts
  • Pan and zoom via touch interface
  • Auto and manual trigger modes
  • Multiple X and Y cursors
  • On screen measurements
  • Save waveforms to image or text file
  • Spectral analysis
